Physicals

School physicals are a vital part of a child’s health care. That’s because from elementary through high school, children undergo major changes in their height, weight, and other physical characteristics, and a school physical is the perfect opportunity to assess whether a child is experiencing healthy, age-appropriate development. The start of a new school year is an ideal time to complete this assessment.

• $75 – School Physical

During your child’s visit to EMC Express Care, our provider will assess your child's health and medical history; evaluate their height, weight, blood pressure, vision, heart, and other important physical systems; and verify that any and all mandatory vaccinations required for school attendance are up to date.

Most school-sanctioned sports programs require a physical exam for student athletes prior to participation and are usually specific to a particular sport.

A sports physical at EMC Express Care is focused on the prevention of injury and illness. It includes an eye exam, review of the athlete’s health history, and a comprehensive physical exam, including a fitness check of your child’s joints, strength, and flexibility. This enables your health care provider to detect a heart problem or other health-related issues and determine risk factors for illness or injury that could be triggered by strenuous physical activity. At the same time, your doctor can provide training tips to help reduce the risk of injury.

If you are about to leave on a trip – especially to an international destination – a pretravel checkup is recommended, even if it isn't required. Those who may benefit from a travel physical include pregnant women, patients diagnosed with a chronic medical illness, or those traveling to a country where health risks have been reported. The purpose of a travel physical is to protect yourself from contracting a disease while abroad.

During your travel physical at EMC Express Care, our physician will assess your health to determine whether you are fit to travel and, if so, provide you with advice on any health risks, as well as vaccinations if needed.

A Department of Transportation physical examination is required to determine if you are fit to operate a commercial motor vehicle. At EMC Express Care, the physical consists of vision and hearing tests, a blood test to detect high blood pressure or other medical condition, and urinalysis as a part of drug and alcohol testing.

In order to maintain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), you must undergo a DOT physical every two years.

Prices for a DOT Physical are:

• $100 for an adult DOT physical. This includes $75 for the physical and $25 for urinalysis.
