DOT, Sports Physicals and More!
In addition to our urgent care services, EMC Express Care’s walk-in clinic in North Richland Hills, Texas, provides physical examinations for a wide variety of patient needs. These include:
Annual physical examinations are a vital part of preventive health care. During an annual physical, our physician will review your medical history; check vital signs such as blood pressure, heart rate, respiration rate, and temperature; listen to your heart and lungs; and examine your head, neck, skin, abdomen, and extremities.
Male patients may also undergo a prostate examination if necessary, as well as an exam for hernia or genital abnormalities. Female patients may require breast and pelvic exams.
While there are no standard laboratory tests during an annual physical, your EMC Express Care doctor may order a complete blood count, chemistry panel, and/or urinalysis.
School physicals are a vital part of a child’s healthcare. That’s because from elementary through high school, children undergo major changes in their height, weight, and other physical characteristics, and a school physical is an opportunity to assess whether a child is experiencing healthy, age-appropriate development. The start of a new school year is an ideal time to complete this assessment.
During your child’s visit to EMC Express Care, our provider will assess his or her health and family history; evaluate their height, weight, blood pressure, vision, heart and other important physical systems, and verify that any and all mandatory vaccinations that are required for school attendance are up-to-date.
Most school-sanctioned sports programs require a physical exam for student-athletes prior to participation and are usually specific to a sport.
Focused on injury and illness prevention, a sports physical at EMC Express Care includes an eye exam, review of the athlete’s health history, and a comprehensive physical exam, including a fitness check of your child’s joints, strength, and flexibility.
This enables the provider to detect a heart- or other health-related issues and determine risk factors for illness or injury that could be triggered by strenuous physical activity. At the same time, our provider can provide training tips to help reduce the risk of injury.
If you are about to leave on a trip – especially to an international destination – a pre-travel checkup is advisable, if not necessarily required. Those who may especially benefit from a travel physical include pregnant women, patients diagnosed with a chronic medical illness, or those traveling to a country where health risks have been reported. The purpose of a travel physical is to protect yourself from contracting a disease while abroad.
During your travel physical at EMC Express Care, our physician will assess your health to determine whether you are fit to travel and, if so, provide you with advice on any health risks, as well as immunizations if needed.
A medical examination and vaccinations are required for those who apply for lawful permanent resident status in the United States.
During an immigration physical at EMC Express Care, you are tested for communicable diseases such as tuberculosis (TB), and your medical records are checked to determine whether you need any vaccinations, which we can easily provide.
We also take a blood sample to measure the presence and number of antibodies in your blood to provide your immunity to disease.
Following the examination, we will complete and provide you with a copy of Form I-693 (Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record) for your records, a copy of which you will submit to the U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS) in a sealed envelope.
A Department of Transportation physical examination is required to determine if you are fit to operate a commercial motor vehicle. At EMC Express Care, the physical consists of vision and hearing tests, a blood test to detect high blood pressure or other medical condition, and urinalysis as a part of drug and alcohol testing.
In order to maintain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), you must undergo a DOT physical every two years.
Prices for a DOT Physical are:
- $20 – Sports/School for anyone under 21 ($55 for those over 21)
- $80 for an adult DOT physical. This includes $55 for the physical and $25 for urinalysis)
- Additional TB, blood tests, vaccines not included in pricing. You must self-pay for any additional testing.
